Mercedes-Benz revealed its new ML63 AMG at 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The redesigned model is one of the two new V8-powered M-Class cars that will be available in the U.S. next year.
The new performance edition of the M-Class features a twin-turbo AMG 5.5-liter V8 with an output of 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. An extra AMG Performance Pack increases output to 550 hp and torque to 560 lb-ft, decreasing 0-60 acceleration from 4.7 to 4.6 seconds and increasing top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph. The performance pack also includes an AMG Performance steering wheel, red brake calipers and carbon-fiber engine cover. Mercedes has always impressed with cars that are not only performing, but that place great importance on design and comfort as well. As for safety, consumer car reviews say this model offers every feature a driver could wish for on the road.
Integrated into the AMG sports suspension, the improved active roll stabilization system of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG integrates Airmatic air suspension, adaptive damping and automatic level control. The new Mercedes-Benz is also powered by an AMG Speed shift Plus seven-speed automatic transmission. Driving this car will be a real pleasure, and the seven-speed option allows for the thrills many drivers look for in a car. In fact, consumer car reviews have already mentioned this fact, praising other qualities of the Mercedes as well, such as the great interior.
As for the interior, the standard features comprise leather interior with black headliner, a leather-wrapped, flat-bottom AMG steering wheel, as well as AMG sport seats.
The new 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG has additional aero body improvements such as deeper front and rear under-bumper aprons, modified rocker panels under the doors and quad exhaust pipes.
The other M-Class model to enter the U.S. market in early 2012 is the new ML550, a less powerful car rated at 402 hp and 443 lb-ft.
