The 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a revised version of the Ninja 250 model. The design is not very different from the previous model, with ZX-6R dual headlights, side fins and “floating” windscreen. A larger-displacement of 296 cc (18.1 cu in) Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin engine with 39 hp powers the Ninja 300. The 250’s carburetors were replaced with a digital fuel injection (DFI) system for better throttle response, improved cold starting and lower fuel consumption.

Almost 50% of the engine components are new, like the spin-on oil filter and digital fuel injection system. The intake ports are 1 mm wider at the throttle body and 5 mm wider at the valve seat, with 23.6 mm larger intake valves. Pistons are lighter to lower reciprocating weight and the anodized coating reduces friction. Also the underside surface is modified to cool oil more efficiently and enhance performance. The new aluminum cylinders are lighter and have a “T-treatment” plating that diminishes friction.

Larger than its predecessor, the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 has an aggressive design with the “minimalist-tail” concept twin headlights, exhaust, fairing and a floating windscreen for smoother airflow around the helmet. The seat is higher and the Corbin front saddle eliminates pressure points and increases range. Built of Comfort Cell foam it provides excellent support for drivers and passengers. An analog tachometer and digital display with odometer, speedometer, dual trip meters and fuel gauge are placed on the panel. The economical riding indicator (ECO) informs the driver on fuel consumption level.

The extra torque provided by the engine is handled by a six-speed transmission with thicker gears and neutral finding. A new F.C.C. Clutch with assist and slipper functions reduces the lever effort and increases handling ability. The front and rear suspension have a more-rigid frame and softer spring rates. Front rubber engine mounts balance the rigidity and make the ride smoother.

Large 290 mm front petal disc brake with a 2-piston caliper and a 220 mm rear disc offer a reliable braking system. An ABS model is available, designed by Nissin for motorcycles. It is very compact, 60% smaller than the previous model and it gives the driver a more precise control over the motorcycle. For increased comfort, the telescopic fork is now 37 mm long and has revised settings. The super sport-style aluminum foot-pegs provide excellent handling when sport driving and the wider rear tire maximizes grip.

The 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a bike that was a lot to offer: it gives the driver a natural comfortable riding position, high stability, maneuverability and increased performance with low fuel consumption.
