With the evolution of technology, smartphones are becoming more powerful and more popular. The iPhone is one of the greatest innovations of our century. Produced by Apple Inc, the first device was released in 2007 and currently there are six generations with the iOS mobile operating system. The iPhone can take photos, browse the web, play music, it has games, social networking and GPS navigation. Many people used it to watch movies and television using applications from online video providers, cable companies and TV networks. You can watch TV on iPhone devices anywhere if you have a 3G connection, but be aware that streaming videos can exceed your monthly limit and you may have to pay extra. Here are some of the most popular apps that you can use to watch TV:

Hulu+
Hulu Plus is one of the most popular apps available on Appstore for free. The downloading itself does not cost and you get a free trial for a week, but the monthly subscription is $7.99. Although there are some shows that aren’t available and you might see some advertisements, Hulu Plus is a great way to watch TV on iPhone. Both new and old shows are available, like Desperate Housewives, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The office. It supports 720p high-definition streaming and you can watch it using 4G, 3G and WiFi.

Netflix
Another well known application is Netflix. Its services are not free, it charges $7.99 per month but the app provides both TV shows and movies. A free one month subscription is available, so you have time to test it and determine if it’s the right choice. With a rich content, you can find almost any new and classic show on Netflix. It is user friendly, allowing you to browse various categories and search for a certain title. Users can continue watching a video that did not complete so they don’t have to search for it again. The app is updated on a regular basis and it doesn’t have limited content.

TV.com
If you rather use a free app to watch TV on iPhone, TV.com is the best solution. It provides content from Showtime, the CW, Classic TV and CBS. Movies aren’t included and TV shows are limited, otherwise TV.com works great and doesn’t require a monthly subscription.

NetTV
NerTV has more than 400 local and international channels available because it uses free links from websites. It has a free version that includes some banner ads, and a payed version that costs $2.99. If you are using 3G, you can only view a show for 10 minutes but a WiFi connection allows full access..
