Who does not remember the model CLK? Elegant and surprisingly, it was a more desirable car. But Mercedes has decided to not continue this pattern. And took an interesting decision. It decided to create a coupe for class C. A coupe that competes directly with the Audi A5 and BMW 3 Series Coupe. By this decision, Mercedes wants to increase its range of customers, even if C-Class coupe is built on the same platform with the E-Class Coupe.
The version we tested was the C250 CDI Blue EFFICIENCY. Under the hood is actually a2143 cc turbo diesel engine that develops 204 hp at 4,200 rpm. Maximum torque is 500 Nm and is available between 1600 and 1800 rpm. The engine is lively enough for a coupe car, but it is not refined enough for Mercedes-Benz standards. Although well soundproofed, the interior is polluted from time to time this engine noise when running in urban areas, reminding yourself that under the hood is an engine with the four cylinders. C250 CDI feels best under the highway. Here, this engine comes first. But associated with the automatic gearbox with seven gears, it is doing its work excellently. Reports of automated box are highly tiered. Power is transmitted, of course, to the rear axle. If you ask the engine over4,200 rpm, it shows its limitations, unpleasant sound intensifies, and the engine runs out of breath.
If the engine can sin a little by the lack of refinement, the department recovered oil consumption. Manufacturer shows an average consumption of 4.9 l/100 km. Of the two direct competitors, the Audi A5 and BMW 3 Series Coupe, the only Audi boasts similar fuel consumption. Audi A5 2012 model now has a 3-liter six-cylinder in V that develops also 204 hp. The BMW 325d Coupe model uses a six-cylinder engine to deliver 204 hp, but average consumption is higher. Mercedes excels in the extra consumption, where official figures say 4.1 l/100 km, while direct competitors have higher figures in this chapter.
In terms of performance, the Mercedes C250 CDI is very close to its direct rivals. The maximum speed that a coupe with a star may reach is 240 km / h, while the 325D series boasts 244 km / h and 204 hp Audi A5 can run up to 235 km / h. At Chapter acceleration 0-100 km / h, the differences are insignificant: 6.9 seconds for the BMW 325d, 7 secondsC250 CDI and 7.1 Coupe Audi A5 3.0 TDI. However we take, Mercedes always fall between the two rivals in Germany. In everyday life, Mercedes is lively enough for any situation. Any extra is excellent, especially thanks to the seven-speed automatic gearbox.
