The latest product from the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team is ready to be launched: the new2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, a car which reunites the iconic four-door fastback coupe design of new Chargers, performance driving and much larger power.
Engine
Hiding under the hood, the new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 provides 465 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, but also an estimated additional 80 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,900 rpm. The new adaptive valve exhaust system makes possible a wider rpm range for enhanced fuel efficiency. There is a high-lift camshaft with cam phasing and an active intake manifold for maximum low-end torque and optimized high-end power.
2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 is the first Chrysler Group LLC SRT car that combines the standard paddle-shift technology with the standard AutoStick on the floor shifter and the W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission. These two shifting options allow the driver to shift while the transmission controller calibration impede over rev of the engine.
Ride and Handling
The adaptive damping system makes use of a large palette of on-road and driver inputs. Auto and Sport settings adjust the shock damping and harshness characteristics according to driving conditions.
The new split five-spoke, 20” lightweight forged wheels are made of polished aluminum and include painted pockets. Tires are available in three or four-season type.
Braking system
For ensuring efficient braking power, the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 features four-piston Brembo calipers and vented/slotted rotors of 14.2” up front and 13.8” in the rear. The Ready Alert Braking system can anticipate a possible brake.
Exterior
New front and rear fascias are designed for the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, as well as new rear spoiler. Among other, there are high-gloss black finishes, SRT badges, refreshed hood, redesigned underbody belly pan.
Interior
The new Dodge`s interior is a combination of world-class accommodations with technologies inspired from racing. The SRT-exclusive steering wheel is wrapped in leather and includes an original rim section that reveals the SRT logo. A new instrument panel and shifter bezel integrates carbon-weave interior trim pieces made of fiber aluminum.
The redesigned interior also features unique seats, modifies door trim panels, a new high-performance audio surround-sound system and an advanced instrument panel display.
