Available in USA for four years now, the new 2012 Nissan GT-R comes with changes in its look, colors, wheel design and power. Moreover, there is also a new “Black Edition” that features unique seats, wheels and colors for the interior. Available at many dealers across the country, including Peoria Arizona Nissan Dealers, the GT-R is becoming one of the popular cars to buy.
The VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 now generates 530 horsepower (instead of the previous 485 horsepower) and 488 lb-ft of torque (instead of the previous 434 lb-ft). To achieve this performance, there are modifications in the turbocharger, air mixture ration and valve timing, while an enlarged section of exhaust pipe reduced the exhaust air resistance.
The new Nissan GT-R has improved aerodynamics, with a downforce increase by about 10%. The coefficient of drag was reduced from 0.27 to 0.26, while the enlarged fascia and grille openings provide better stability. In addition, the volume of air passing through the radiator and cooling the front brakes is increased.
The front fascia is redesigned, comprising new integrated high intensity LED running lights and aggressive double rectifier fins. The extra plated parts for the headlight inner panels give the car a stronger look. The rear fascia is also refreshed featuring a lower centre of gravity. While the underfloor cooling is enhanced, the rear diffuser is extended, so the air resistance is diminished.
The new Nissan GT-R features improved cooling performance for the muffler, rear downforce increased by 10% and larger diameter tailpipe finishers. Six colors can be used for the exterior: Solid Red, Pearl White, Gun Metallic, Jet Black Deep Blue Pearl and a limited production 4-stage metallic Super Silver.
The suspension response is improved by lighter weight and more rigid forged aluminum 20-inch wheels made by RAYS®. Knurling inside the wheels is changed in order to prevent the tired from slipping the wheels because of heavy acceleration or braking. The wheels now have new premium dark finish. For the Black Edition, there were use special black six-spoke RAYS® wheels instead of the 10-spoke model.
The interior of 2012 Nissan GT-R features new carbon fiber trim and advanced materials, while the Black Edition`s includes red and black interior trim, custom red-trimmed Recaro® seats and a dark headliner.
