The basic football rules are quite simple. The offensive teams needs to move the ball into the end zone of the defensive team. If they do this they are awarded a touchdown which is worth 6 points. A down is a chance given to the offensive team in order to push the ball forward at least 10 yards. If they succeed in doing this once they are given 4 more chances.
