There are supermarkets, nurseries and special companies that can provide you with the right species. For the beginning, you will have to put them into a greenhouse and keep them for a month, until the seeds rise. Afterwards you are free to get them out in the garden and plant them there.
If you are running out of time and do not have patience to wait for the tomatoes until they grow up, you are free to buy some fluorescent lights that you can put next to the plant. Wait until the plants reach 20 cm height and move them during springtime.
We do not recommend you to buy already grown-up plants, because there will be less benefits. Look for more varieties, like Better Boy, Brandywine or Lemon boy and do not stop at buying only one type of tomatoes.
We suggest you to make an experiment and start planting two tomato seeds for every one of your friends. Make plans on how you will use the tomatoes and start writing your ideas on a piece of paper. It will encourage you even more to learn how to grow tomatoes.
Now let’s take a look on the plot. You will need a special plot that allows to move the plants from one place to another. This is why our advice is to look for a sunny one and check whether the sun is in a full amount, for at least 7 hours every day. In general tomatoes are sun lovers.
Respect the recommended time for planting them out in the garden and make sure there will be no delay. Once you have started to prepare for the transportation to the garden, you have to add a special compost to the soil. It has to be 7 cm high and must contain many organic substances. You can even buy the compost from the store with no more than $5 a bag. It has 40 pounds and seems to be a profitable business.
You have to plant the tomato about 60% into the ground and make sure every plant has at least 4 liters of water. The whole process of transportation must not take more than 10 minutes and the rules must be respected carefully.
