Shelby enthusiasts have waited since the 1970 the return of a legendary car. The wait is over and Shelby GT350 is back in the business, but updated by modern technologies. Being one of the most appreciated cars in Shelby`s history, the GT350 ruled its class at the track and was known for the unique design. As heritage must be given its rights, the 2011 Ford Shelby GT350 is a proof of past meeting the present.
The new version of GT350 has the all-aluminum 5.0-liter, DOHC, V-8. The discussion about reviving the car started years ago, but Shelby didn`t agree to build a GT350 starting from the 4.6-liter model. The reason behind this decision was that sooner or later they had to impend the 5.0 for the engine package.
The engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual (or automatic) transmission, the Baer brake system contains 6 piston kit in the front and 14 Eradispeed rotors in the rear with cooling tubes for all four corners. Automatic versions can be converted to reaching 440 hp, while manuals can be added a NA or a For Racing supercharger to reach 525 hp or even 624 hp at the expense of car warranty. Moreover, this model will be provided with custom Borla exhaust system and 19″ Cragar wheels.
For the suspension system, constructors used Ford Racing springs, adjustable caster plates, sway bars and struts. The first 100 cars that join the program will be fitted with Eibach suspension carried over from the GT500 Supersnake.
Modern aerodynamics is integrated into the 1965-1970 Shelby styling cues. Others updates for the GT350 are new front fascia, rear deck lid filler panel and rear fascia, as well as new front splitter and tail light trim. On the side rockers and hood there are placed functional scoops. On the A pillar there are a fuel and oil pressure, but also a boost gauge.
The 2011 Ford Shelby GT350 will be available only in one chromatic combination, the one this symbolic car became famous with: white with Guardsman blue racing stripes.
The core concept of GT350 is bringing together lightness, fastness and power. For this to happen, Ford Mustang team and Shelby American team collaborate with professionals and experts from Goodyear, Borla, Baer, Crangar and Ford Racing.
The new GT350 edition is a post title program. A client has the possibility to buy a 2011 Mustang from any Ford Deal and have this car converted and updated into the GT350 by the Shelby American Team at Shelby`s Las Vegas facility. The cars can be shipped or the customers can bring them by their own. Still, there is a limited number for the 2011 edition.
